The Dandenong Ranges has a great range of attractions, gardens and cafes where your four legged friend is welcome. We also have a great range of pet friendly accommodation where your pet will feel right at home.



  • Dogs at Cloudehill Gardens & Seasons Restaurant

Cloudehill Gardens & Seasons Restaurant

89 Olinda-Monbulk Rd, Olinda
Your dog is welcome to explore beautiful Cloudehill Gardens with you but must be kept on a lead. The gardens are incredible anytime of the year with changing colours through the seasons. The adjoining Seasons Restaurant has an outdoor area and is the perfect place to stop for coffee and cake or lunch. Both are open 7 days 9am - 5pm.


  • Birdsland Reserve

Birdsland Reserve

Mt Morton Road, Belgrave South
The reserve is home to many native animals and birds, including platypus. It's a great spot for a picnic or bush walk, with it's walking tracks, BBQ's and 28ha retarding basin. It's a great place to take your dog for a walk on a lead. Park opens at 7.30am daily. Closing times vary seasonally, please check signs at park entrance for closing time.

Dogs are welcome on a lead on the many paths through this large acerage of garden known for its extensive water features and ornamental lake with boathouse. Taking you beneath a canopy of the awesome mountain ash trees, the garden was part of the historic Burnham Beeches Estate, home of Alfred Nicholas, developer of the Aspro formula.


  • Dogs at Silvan Reservoir Park

Stonyford Rd, Silvan | Open Daily 9am to 4.30pm
Set in the foothills of the Ranges, Silvan Reservoir Park has landscaped picnic areas and open lawns surrounded by an impressive eucalypt forest, perfect for a picnic or barbecue. The dam carpark gives access to the observation area over the Silvan Reservoir. Dogs must be kept on a lead and are not permitted on the walking tracks.

Dogs are welcome on a lead at both. Mt Dandenong Arboretum has a large collection on southern hemisphere conifers and deciduous trees making it quite spectacular in autumn. RJ Hamer Aboretum has many walking tracks to take in the tranquil beauty and stunning scenery across the Yarra Valley out to the Warburton Ranges and beyond.

Dog Friendly Walking Tracks

Dandenong Ranges National Parks do not allow dogs, however there are some walking trails that you are welcome to take your dog on. Our favourite is Mathias Track (still known as Mathias Rd). It starts at Falls Rd, Olinda and cuts behind the golf course to end on Silvan Rd. It is an easy 7km round trip, with undulating sections suitable for all fitness levels and gorgeous views of the Yarra Valley. Dogs are required to be on lead at all times and parking is available at Falls Rd or Silvan Rd.

SkyHigh Mt Dandenong

Observatory Rd, Mt Dandenong | Open Daily 9am to 10pm
At the highest point of Mt Dandenong with spectacular views of Melbourne, dogs are welcome at SkyHigh but must be on a lead at all times. The observation area and outside bisto area are both accessible from outside so your dog is welcome to sit with you. There are gardens to explore and paths making this a varied spot to take your furry friend.

Dog Friendly Wineries & Tours

If you want to explore some of the regions wine, you don't need to leave your dog behind or in the car. There are several wineries that welcome your dog on a lead. They have outdoor dining areas so you can stop for lunch. You can even organise a winery tour that allows you to take your dog along and experience some doggy pampering on the way.
